Municipal Taxes
The business tax is rated at 0% to encourage economic development in the PARC member municipalities.
An historic commercial tax sharing agreement was signed by nine municipalities on March 2, 2005. The municipalities have effectively eliminated all municipal boundaries for commercial and industrial development in the region. The communities are united in attracting industry and investment into the region without costly and wasteful internal competition. Regardless of where an industry chooses to locate, all the communities gain together. Sections 259, 260 and 295 of The Municipal Act empower municipalities to enter into inter-municipal tax sharing agreements, service sharing agreements and cost sharing agreements.
